About

Hi, I’m Kailash Pathak.

Technical Manager, Product Development at 3Pillar Global · Delhi, India

I’ve spent more than twenty years in software quality — as a tester, as an automation engineer, and now leading quality engineering for product teams. I write, speak and teach about test automation, and I run QA Automation Labs so that anyone learning it has a good place to start.

My story

From finding bugs to building confidence

I started in software testing in 2006. Finding bugs was the job, but the question that kept me interested was a bigger one: how does a team know its software works, at the speed it now ships?

Since 2012 I’ve been at 3Pillar Global, where I’ve grown through five roles. Today, as Technical Manager for Product Development, I lead a 15-person quality engineering team. My work covers quality strategy, automation architecture and delivery — making testing something that speeds a team up rather than holding it back.

The tools have changed a lot along the way. I moved from Selenium and Java to Cypress, and then to Playwright with TypeScript, with Karate DSL and REST Assured for APIs. These days much of my attention goes to AI in testing: agents that plan, write and repair tests, and the Model Context Protocol that connects them to real tools.

Outside the day job I write and teach. I’ve published two books on Playwright, more than 120 articles on Medium, DZone and this site, and I’ve spoken at over 25 conferences in 8 countries. QA Automation Labs is where it all comes together: free tutorials, practice apps and interview preparation for anyone learning automation.

What I work on

Three things I care about most

  • Quality strategy and leadership

Setting a quality strategy that fits the product and the business, and leading distributed teams that own it — with risk-based coverage and clear release-readiness signals.

  • Automation that teams trust

Frameworks for UI, API, visual and accessibility testing that run in CI, stay fast and stable, and make a green build mean something.

  • AI-assisted testing

Using Playwright agents, MCP and purpose-built AI agents for test generation, analysis and self-healing, with people still in control of what ships.

Tools I use most: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium · TypeScript, JavaScript, Java · Karate DSL, REST Assured · GitHub, GitLab, Azure Pipelines · BrowserStack, LambdaTest, Applitools.
Domains: healthcare, data centre and infrastructure, AI-based applications, education, ERP and telecom.
